Project Hail Mary

Based on Andy Weir’s (The Martian) novel of the same name, Project Hail Mary is an exhilarating space adventure set in the near future. Ryland Grace (Ryan Gosling), a school-teacher-turned-astronaut, wakes up from a coma, alone, on a space station with no memory of who he is or his mission. His memory returns in bursts and he pieces together that he was sent to the Tau Ceti solar system, 12 light-years from Earth, to reverse the impact of a space event that had already hurled our planet into the early stages of an Ice Age. As details of the mission unravel, Grace must call on all of his scientific training and sheer ingenuity, but he might not have to do it alone…

Defiance with Special Guest Alan Bell

In 1941, Nazi soldiers were slaughtering Eastern European Jews by the thousands. Three brothers, Tuvia (Daniel Craig), Zus (Liev Schreiber) and Asael (Jamie Bell), manage to escape and take refuge in the forest where they played in childhood. Seeking a way to avenge the deaths of their loved ones, the brothers turn their daily struggle for survival into a battle against the Nazis. As news of their exploits spreads, others join the fray, willing to risk their lives for even brief freedom. A Q&A follows the film with Alan Bell, the son of the youngest Bielski brother Aron Bielski (played by George MacKay in the film), moderated by Bedford New Canaan Magazine’s Casey Kaplan.
